The Gobi player is now even more accessible
1 bn
Over one billion people live with some form of disability. Accessible video is not just good practice — it is essential.

We have launched a major update to the Gobi player with strengthened support for WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The update ensures that the videos you create can be reached and experienced meaningfully by everyone — regardless of ability.

What is new in the update

  • Improved support for closed captions and video descriptions for deaf and hard-of-hearing users
  • Support for VTT track files, compatible with assistive technology
  • Downloadable transcript formats: plain text, HTML, and VTT
  • Improved screen reader compatibility with real-time progress updates
  • Better keyboard navigation and new keyboard shortcuts
  • Configurable alt text for thumbnails, covers, and stickers
  • Link stickers included in tab-based navigation
  • Reduced motion support for users who prefer fewer animations
  • Full functionality at 200% zoom
  • Improved contrast ratios meeting the minimum 3:1 requirement

“Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of inclusive storytelling. These improvements enable content creators to build video experiences that truly are for everyone.”

— Gobi Stories, on accessibility philosophy

These improvements are especially relevant for businesses subject to accessibility requirements — including obligations under regulations such as the European Accessibility Act and the Web Accessibility Directive.
